Vyomasura Vadha

In Dwapara Yuga, Lord Vishnu Murthy was reborn as Lord Sri Krishna. The series of these stories of Sri Krishna Leelas depicts the truth of life and try to bring out the common durgunas(bad things) found in us, the mankind, and thus these stories warn us to be away to bad things and learn to be a good human being.

Lets talk about the Vyomasura Bhanjanam. One find day, when Lord Sri Krishna and the Gopalas were playing in Nandanavanam. The game was to depict the roles of Gomatha(cow), some as aja(goat), some as stena(thief), and the others as Gopalakas.

Kamsa, the brother if Lord Sri Krishna’s mother, sent Vyomasura, the son of Mayasura, to kill his niece, the Krishna. Kamsa, in the past, while taking her sister and borther-in-law to the palace after marriage. On the way, a voice from sky warns kamsa of his death. The voice depicts his death in the hands of Devaki, his sister, vasudeva, his brother-in-law’s son. This has changed his mind and he jailed the couple and started killing all the babies born to them. The 8th baby was Lord Sri Krishna, carried by vasudeva to Brindavanam for his safety. All the jailers went into deep trans of a deep sleep with Lord Krishna’s power that made easier to Vasudeva, to carry the new born child (Sri Krishna) to Brindhavanam.

Since then, Kamsa, unable to succeed in killing his nephew, in the jail iteself, started attacking him by sending his people to Brindhavanam. Vyomasura entered the group of the gopalas who were playing, and started stealing all the gopalas depicting as stenas in the game, and hidden them in a bilam. They were all shut down by Vyomasura in a big cave closed by a big rock. This made Lord Krishna attack Vyomasura lifting him with his two hands, swirled in the air, and smashed him onto the ground. Vyomasura’s teja, the light entered Parandhama, the supreme heaven.

Lord Krishna broke the bilam’s rock door, and release all his gopalas.
